Services we offer

Every Septic and Sewer Service We Provide

Septic Services

Care for the tank, drain field and treatment system

  • Septic Pumping

Removes the settled solids and floating scum from a septic tank so they do not move into the drain field. Usually done on a routine schedule, with timing that depends on tank size and how many people use the system.

  • Septic Repairs and Installations

Repairs to failing septic components, and installation of new septic systems by an Oregon DEQ licensed installer, including advanced treatment units.

  • Site Evaluations

Site evaluation work that shows what type of septic system a property's soil and layout can support. Usually the first step before a new system is designed and permitted.

  • Advanced Treatment Maintenance

Scheduled service for advanced treatment units such as Orenco AdvanTex systems, which are designed to be maintained regularly by a registered provider.

  • Commercial Maintenance (WPCF)

Ongoing maintenance for larger and commercial onsite systems that operate under a Water Pollution Control Facilities permit from Oregon DEQ.

  • Real Estate Septic Inspections

A DEQ certified inspection of a septic system's condition during a property sale, so buyers, sellers and agents have a clear record before closing.

Sewer Services

Care for the lines that carry wastewater from the building

  • Sewer Mainline Repairs and Installations

Repair or replacement of damaged, collapsed or undersized sewer lines, and installation of new lines between a building and the septic tank or city main.

  • Hydro Jetting

High pressure water that scours grease, scale and roots from the full width of a pipe. Used when buildup keeps coming back after a line has been cleared.

  • Rooter Service

Mechanical clearing of blockages and root intrusion in the main sewer line, typically the fix when backups affect more than one fixture.

  • Drain Cleaning

Clearing slow or clogged sink, tub, shower and floor drains inside the building before a small clog turns into a backup.

  • Real Estate Sewer Inspections

An inspection of the sewer line's condition during a property sale, so a damaged line is found before closing instead of after move-in.

Septic vs sewer

Septic or Sewer: Which System Does Your Property Have?

A property is on septic if its wastewater is treated on site in a septic tank and drain field, and on sewer if it connects to a public sewer main that carries wastewater to a treatment plant. The biggest practical difference for owners is responsibility: a septic system belongs entirely to the property owner, while on sewer the owner is usually responsible for the private line from the building out to the public main.

Signs a property is on septic

  • No sewer charge on the water or utility bill
  • Septic tank lids or risers visible in the yard
  • Records of past pumping, or a septic permit on file
  • A rural location outside a city sewer district

Signs a property is on sewer

  • A sewer charge on the city utility bill
  • A cleanout near the house but no tank lids in the yard
  • A location inside city limits with sewer service
  • Neighbors on the same street connected to the city main

Drain cleaning applies either way, because every building has drains inside it. If you are still not sure which system you have, the property records or a septic or sewer inspection can confirm it. Econo Rooter works on both, so the next step is the same either way: call (541) 396-4804.

Choosing a service

Routine Care, Repairs, New Systems and Property Sales

Most requests fall into one of four situations. Knowing which one you are in makes the first call quicker, because the team can plan the right truck and equipment before arriving.

Real estate inspections

Septic Inspection, Sewer Inspection or Both?

Which inspection a sale needs depends on how the property handles its wastewater. A home on septic needs a septic inspection, which looks at the tank, its components and the drain field. A home on city sewer needs a sewer line inspection, which looks at the private line from the house to the public main. When the records do not make the system type clear, that question gets answered first, so the inspection matches the property.

Clearing and repairing lines

Drain Cleaning, Rooter Service, Hydro Jetting or Repair?

Four services deal with blocked or damaged lines, and they are often confused. The difference is where the problem sits in the system and whether the pipe itself is still sound. Cleaning fixes buildup and roots; repair fixes a pipe that is broken.

Service questions

Questions About Our Septic and Sewer Services

How do I know if my house is on septic or sewer?

Check the water or utility bill for a sewer charge, look for septic tank lids or risers in the yard, and check the property records for a septic permit or pumping history. A home with no sewer charge and a tank in the yard is on septic. If the records are unclear, a septic or sewer inspection can confirm how the property is connected.

Do I need a septic inspection or a sewer inspection when buying a house?

A home on septic needs a real estate septic inspection, which looks at the tank, its components and the drain field. A home connected to city sewer needs a real estate sewer inspection, which looks at the private line from the house to the public main. If it is not clear which system the property has, confirm that first.

What is the difference between rooter service and drain cleaning?

Drain cleaning clears clogs in the sinks, tubs, showers and floor drains inside a building. Rooter service clears blockages and roots in the main sewer line that carries all of the building's wastewater out to the septic tank or city sewer. Backups at more than one fixture usually point to the main line.

Does Econo Rooter Services install new septic systems?

Econo Rooter Services installs new septic systems as an Oregon DEQ licensed installer, including advanced treatment units such as Orenco AdvanTex and Delta Whitewater systems. A new system usually starts with a site evaluation to determine what the property can support.

Does Econo Rooter Services handle commercial septic and sewer work?

Econo Rooter Services works with restaurants, rentals and other commercial properties on drain and sewer cleaning and sewer line repairs, and provides ongoing maintenance for onsite systems that operate under a Water Pollution Control Facilities (WPCF) permit.
