Our story
Econo Rooter Services, Inc. is a septic, sewer and drain contractor headquartered at 1742 W Central Blvd in Coquille, Oregon. Joel Klein founded the company in 2000, and Patrick Flynn has led it since June 2022. The team pumps, inspects, repairs and installs septic systems and sewer lines for homes, businesses and real estate transactions across Coos County and northern Curry County.
For more than two decades, Econo Rooter has done the work most property owners only think about when something goes wrong: moving wastewater safely away from the house and making sure it is treated properly in the ground. On the southern Oregon coast that work looks different from a typical city plumbing job. Many properties sit outside a sewer district, lots are often rural or sloped, and the wet season tests every septic tank, drain field and sewer line in the area.
Joel Klein started Econo Rooter Services in 2000 with a focus on septic service for local property owners. Today the company's work covers the full path wastewater takes, from the drains inside a building to the sewer line, the septic tank and the drain field, so a single call can cover a problem wherever it turns out to be.
In June 2022, Patrick Flynn took the helm of Econo Rooter. Under Patrick, the company has kept a customer-focused approach, with an emphasis on explaining the work clearly and continuing to invest in equipment and training for the crew. The goal has not changed since 2000: dependable septic and sewer service from a local team that customers can call again the next time they need it.

What we do
Most septic and sewer problems do not stay in one place. A slow drain in the kitchen can start in the main sewer line, the septic tank or the drain field. Because Econo Rooter works on every part of that path, the same team can find where the problem actually is and fix it there, instead of treating the symptom.
Sinks, tubs, showers and floor drains. Slow or blocked drains are cleared with drain cleaning and rooter service.
The pipe that carries wastewater from the building to the septic tank or the city main. It is repaired or replaced through sewer mainline work and cleaned with hydro jetting.
Where solids settle out before wastewater moves on. Tanks are pumped on a schedule, inspected for home sales and repaired or replaced when components fail.
Where wastewater is treated in the soil, sometimes after an advanced treatment unit. Sites are evaluated, systems are installed, and treatment units are maintained under Oregon DEQ rules.
Finding the right starting point is often the most valuable part of a visit. A backed-up toilet on a property with a full septic tank needs pumping, not a drain snake. A tank that was pumped recently but keeps backing up may point to a problem in the sewer line or the drain field instead. Working on the whole system is what lets the team tell the difference and recommend the work that actually solves the problem.
Licensed and certified
Licensing matters because septic and sewer work affects public health and local groundwater. Oregon requires businesses that install septic systems or pump septic tanks to hold licenses from the Department of Environmental Quality, and new systems and major repairs involve permits and inspections.
Econo Rooter holds the licenses this work requires, including an Oregon Construction Contractors Board license, Oregon DEQ licenses for septic installation and septic pumping, an Oregon plumbing license and a limited electrical license, along with DEQ certification for real estate septic inspections and for the operation and maintenance of septic systems.
For properties with advanced treatment technology, Econo Rooter is a DEQ installer and maintenance provider for advanced treatment systems, an installer of Orenco AdvanTex and Delta Whitewater units, and a registered Orenco AdvanTex service provider. The company also holds a National Environmental Health Association credential as an advanced certified installer of onsite wastewater treatment systems, and is a State of Oregon approved Emerging Small Business.

Local knowledge
Septic and sewer conditions on the southern Oregon coast are shaped by rain. Long wet seasons keep soil saturated, raise groundwater and put pressure on drain fields that seem fine in summer. A crew that works here year-round knows that timing matters: inspections, pumping and repairs are easier to plan before the ground is soaked, and problems that appear in winter often trace back to a system that was already struggling.
The service area also covers a lot of ground. It runs from Reedsport in the north to Gold Beach in the south, and inland to Myrtle Point and Powers. Many of those properties are rural, with long driveways, slopes or tight access for equipment, and many rely on a septic system rather than a city sewer connection. Planning the right truck and machine for each site is part of the job.
Oregon's rules for onsite septic systems are set by the Department of Environmental Quality, and repairs, new systems and many property sales involve those rules. Working with those requirements regularly means fewer surprises for property owners about what a job will involve.

Septic and sewer jobs depend on having the right machine on site. Econo Rooter's crews work with pump trucks for septic tanks, compact excavators for tank and line installation, vacuum excavation for digging safely around buried lines, and drain machines and hydro jetting for clearing pipes.
